Johnson House Historic Site and the 6300 Block Business Alliance present: Juneteenth Festival

Saturday, June 17, 2017, 11am-8pm
at 6300 Block of Germantown Avenue

The 2017 Juneteenth Celebration is in the works! Join us on Saturday, June 17th, all day from 11am to 8pm. There will be much to see and do:
 

  • Oimah Ammi Children's Village
  • Cultural Marketplace
  • Historical Reenactments
  • Food
  • Music
  • Beer Garden
     


The event begins at 11:00am at 5109 Germantown Avenue, at the State Marker commemorating the site of the writing of the First Protest Against Slavery. From there the “Freedom Walk” parade will march up Germantown Avenue to the Johnson House to kickoff festivities.

Liberty to Go to See
Performances at 12:00pm and 3:00pm at Cliveden

Based on the Chew Family Papers and directed by award-winning actor and director Johnnie Hobbs. The play's goal is to bring to life the people who lived and worked at Cliveden from the 1760s through the 1860s. The story dramatizes the paradoxes in American history as revealed in class inequalities, gender roles, racial discrimination and struggles for freedom.
