Awbury Arboretum Presents: a Seasonal Harvest Series
Join us for a one-of-a-kind dining experience in the heart of Awbury Arboretum. Local chefs will present specially-selected menus highlighting farm fresh foods of fall as guests dine together in the parlors or on the grand porch of Awbury’s historic Francis Cope House. A signature cocktail will be served at each dinner.

Thursday, September 14, 2017 – “Dance of the Ripe Tomato”

Thursday, October 12, 2017 – “Rooted”

Thursday, November 9, 2017  – “Make-and-Take Holiday Appetizers”

Mix and mingle at this make-and-take holiday appetizer soiree where you’ll nibble, sip, and learn new tricks of the trade in preparation for the busy holiday season.  Sample five savory appetizers, two desserts, and three cocktails and leave with new recipes that will impress even the most stoic of guests!  Click here to see November’s menu.  Click to Register

Each dinner event runs from 7:00 – 9:30 PM.
Tickets: $35/person, per dinner.  Please register for each event separately.

Featuring Chefs Gail Hinson and Alyssa Schimmel.

Gail Hinson has a degree in Applied Science with a focus on biology and nutrition.  She is currently a Culinary Educator at Awbury Arboretum and also holds a position with Wakefern Food Corporation as a Corporate Chef.  Chef Gail’s interest is in preparing fresh foods in innovative ways, developing delightful flavor profiles while maintaining the highest nutrient levels possible.

Alyssa Schimmel is a community herbalist and gardener with a clinical practice in Philadelphia. She currently works as a co-farm manager of Cloud 9, a rooftop gardening nonprofit, that plants medicinal gardens on rooftop sites. The  flagship location at Guild House West, a senior resident facility, provides fresh herbs and herbal preparations to seniors. She also serves as the Education Director for The Philadelphia Orchard Project and is working to expand orchard education in Philadelphia schools. Her classes are community-oriented, rich in story, immersive, and engaging, providing many points of entry for connecting with the spirit of plants for health and wellness.
