‘A-peeling’ Paint: Clues to Original Hues, the Stenton Yellow Lodging Room

Saturday, March 4, 2017 1-4pm
at Stenton, 4601 N. 18th Street, Philadelphia, PA 19140

Finish analysis is a form of architectural archeology that excavates evidence of past finishes and decorative treatments through selective sampling, microanalysis, and on site exposure of original finishes surfaces. Stenton Curator, Laura Keim, and Conservator, Catherine Myers, collaborated over eighteen months to investigate Stenton’s Yellow Lodging Room finishes. Please join us for an afternoon presentation by Laura and Cassie followed by a tour of the Yellow Lodging Room to understand their process and the results.
